Semaglutide is a revolutionary GLP-1 receptor agonist that was originally developed for patients with Type 2 diabetes, but when providers and pharmaceutical developers noticed how much weight their patients were losing, they began to study semaglutide exclusively for weight loss. A series of clinical trials known as the STEP clinical trials demonstrated that almost 90% of patients lost 5% or more of their body weight. There is no other weight loss drug on the market that compares. In June of 2022, the FDA approved semaglutide for weight loss.

Semaglutide acts like GLP-1 (a gut hormone) to:

  • Increase insulin production
  • Decrease glucagon synthesis
  • Delay gastric emptying
  • Suppress hunger. It signals your brain that you are full so you can lose weight without feeling like you are depriving yourself.
Injections are once weekly. If you are feeling sick after taking it or have nausea added to that, we can go over split dosing, so there are fewer side effects. (2 injections per week).
Your first 12-week starter kit, will last 12 weeks. Your maintenance vial will last anywhere from 8- 20 weeks, depending on what dose you are on.
Most patients see results in their first 2 weeks, some over a month. Everyone’s body is different.
Your med will have an estimated time frame for usage on the label.

Take it as soon as you remember and adjust the day the following week and so on.
Let your provider know, sometimes this is just transient the day of your injection. take your injection at night before bed, therefore you will sleep through most of the nausea. There are prescription medications to offset this side effect. If you eat a large, heavy meal, you will be nauseous and gassy. You will find even smaller servings to be completely satisfying.
